This Week @ Open Roof
It’s the second to last week for Open Roof Festival. Next week, ORF will wrap with back-to-back events on Tuesday August 23 and Wednesday August 24. But this Wednesday, August 17 is lucky #8, with our eighth screening of the summer with music by Sam Drysdale and featuring the Canadian premiere of the SXSW favourite My Blind Brother.
Starting the night will be Sam Drysdale. Hailed as a songwriter to watch by the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, Drysdale has already racked up a significant number of accolades. Citing John Mayer, City and Colour, and Coldplay as musical influences, his set is guaranteed to showcase some compelling, lyrically powerful songs.
3 Fast Facts about Sam Drysdale:
1. Born and raised in Guelph, Ont.
2. Trained in Los Angeles at the Musician’s Institute
3. Winner of Slaight Music’s “It’s Your Shot” competition
After Sam Drysdale, Open Roof Festival is proud to present the Canadian Premiere of My Blind Brother. This relationship comedy, written and directed by Sophie Goodhart features an amazing cast, Nick Kroll, Zoe Kazan, Adam Scott, and Jenny Slate. Bill (Kroll) has always lived in the shadow of his brother Robbie (Scott), a handsome athlete and local hero who happens to be blind. Their sibling rivalry reaches a fever pitch when both men fall for the same woman (Slate).
My Blind Brother Trivia:
