Booksmart

Directed by: Olivia Wilde

A fresh, feminist take on raunchy teen-comedies, Booksmart stars Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein as two high-school high-achievers who realize they may have missed out on all the fun they could have been having when they were busy hitting the books. They decide to make up for an academic career’s worth of fun in one epic night of mayhem. Making her feature directorial debut, Olivia Wilde maintains laughs and energy throughout, with a rollicking soundtrack to boot. A coming of age story for a new generation, like Clueless and Mean Girls before it, “Booksmart is a love letter for any young woman who has ever stayed home on a Friday night to watch a Ken Burns documentary.” (Chandler Levack, Globe and Mail)

Formed in the honest grit of Hamilton, Ontario, Basement Revolver has seen a quick and notable ascent into the spotlight with their unique brand of 90’s infused indie-rock and dream pop sensibilities. With influences including The Pixies and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the band has formulated a captivating and refined hypnotic aural experience typically found with those who are well beyond their years. Their debut full length album Heavy Eyes was released in 2018 to much critical acclaim.  The Big Takeover claimed “the Canadian indie rock band radiates a melancholic glory… with sweetly forlorn female vocals and a textured, uplifting crush of guitars” and Clash stated that “The delicacy of the band’s approach is matched to the intensity of their execution. “
